Autumn Fire Prevention Week has also brought to my attention the existence of Kyuuta, Happy Mascot of the Tokyo Fire Department. The first part of his name is derived from 1-1-9 ("ichi,ichi,kyuu"), Rescue ("Res-kyuu"), and the second part of his name comes from Tasukeru, the Japanese verb "to help".He wears the number 119 on his chest, and his yellow antennas flash when he senses danger.
